We secured the Musical Dome Köln’s smooth transition into the pan-European SEPA transaction format on their outdated payment machines in their close-by parking garage. We created a translation software, converting old DTAUS files into the new SEPA format, continuing to make card payment by customers possible without the Musical Dome having to untimely upgrade their payment machine hardware.

The Musical Dome Köln, known for hosting the successful musicals ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Saturday Night Fever’, features a parking garage close by for visitors to use during the theatrevisit. In the course of the pan-European switch to SEPA for card payments in 2016, the Musical Dome Köln was forced to update their payment machines for their parking garage.
However, in 2014 they were informed that Giro-card payments would only be accepted in an altered format, due to new European regulations, prompting the Muscial Dome to look for an urgent solution. With the payment machine manufacturer not supporting the used and very reliable software anymore, and the purchase of new generation payment machines being economically unviable at the time, the task of smoothly transitioning the old machines into the new format was given to us.

The immediate plan was to create a translation software, converting all DTAUS files securely and conform with the new regulations, and submit these directly to the bank affiliated with the Musical Dome Köln. This initial concept was stress proved and live in less than a weeks time, and followed a year later by an update to format all old transaction files into SEPA, making even outdated, though still valid, Giro-card payments possible. Throughout the project we secured an uninterrupted service for the car park, and gave the Musical Dome Köln the autonomy of when to upgrade the hardware for their payment machines.
